Best dog-friendly beaches in Cornwall

Cornwall is a dream for dog owners. While some Cornish beaches restrict dogs in the peak summer months (typically Easter through October), dozens of beaches stay dog-friendly all year round — and many have parking, fresh-water taps and dog-friendly cafés right by the sand.

Year-round dog beaches near our cottages

  • Daymer Bay — a sheltered, sandy bay with safe swimming and dog access all year.
  • Holywell Bay — wide open sands with iconic dunes; dogs welcome year round on most of the beach.
  • Treyarnon Bay — natural rock pools and a Blue Flag stretch; the western end is dog-friendly all year.
  • Constantine Bay — a surfers' favourite with consistent year-round dog access.
  • Whitsand Bay — three miles of beach, much of it dog-friendly throughout the year.

What to pack

Cornish weather changes in five minutes flat. Bring a quick-dry towel, a tick remover, a long lead for cliff paths, and waterproof bags for muddy paws. Most of our cottages provide an outdoor tap or boot-wash area for the end of a long walk.

Frequently asked questions about dog-friendly stays

Quick answers to the questions guests ask us most.

How many dogs can I bring?

Most of our dog-friendly cottages welcome up to two dogs, but several happily host more. The exact dog limit is shown on each property page before you book — just check the "Pets" section. If you have more than the listed limit, get in touch and we'll ask the owner directly.

Are there extra charges for dogs?

Some properties charge a small per-dog cleaning fee (typically £15–£25 per dog per stay), others welcome dogs at no extra cost. Any fee is shown transparently at checkout — no surprises after you arrive.

Which Cornish beaches allow dogs year-round?

Plenty. Daymer Bay, Holywell Bay, Treyarnon, Constantine, Whitsand and Hannafore are all dog-friendly all year. Most others have summer restrictions (usually 1st May to 30th September) but allow dogs the rest of the year. We'll share a local map with your booking confirmation.

Are the gardens fenced?

The majority of our dog-friendly properties have enclosed gardens — the listing page for each property tells you exactly what to expect, including fence height and any access points. If a secure garden is essential for your dog, filter for it in the property details before booking.

Do you provide dog bowls, beds or treats?

Many of our hosts leave a starter pack — bowl, towel and a tasty welcome treat — but it's not guaranteed for every property. The listing page tells you what's provided. As a rule, we'd still suggest bringing your dog's own bed and bowl so they feel at home.

Can dogs sleep on the furniture or beds?

This varies by owner. Some welcome dogs anywhere; others ask that dogs stay off the soft furnishings. The house rules on each property page set out what's expected — and bringing a familiar blanket from home is always a good shout.
